FaultLink Focuses On HF Ground Loops
For Earthing Conference

"Understanding, Testing For, And Mitigating High-Frequency Ground Loops In Hi-Tech Environments" is Faultlink International's proposed subject at this year's ERA conference on Earthing In Industrial And Commercial Installations.

Open-plan offices and other changeable layouts are most susceptible, often manifesting in corrupted signals or slow and unreliable data links. Such loops were also located as the cause of a batch of computer crashes.

The mains reticulation system is where most HF loops occur leading many to believe they may have a power problem. However, standard mains power quality related instrumentation, by nature of the function and design, usually has upper frequency limits of only a few kHz.

Faultlink International is an independent broad-range electrical/electronics fault investigation and analysis consultancy dealing specifically with issues where conventional measurements could have them remain elusive.

"Tracing these loops calls for unconventional testing techniques" explains Marc Dekenah. "Fortunately, basic instrumentation and some lateral thinking coupled with a little experience is all it takes. Our aim is to share some of this on the day".

The conference is to be held at the Renaissance Hotel, Solihull, Birmingham on 23rd June 2004. Click Here to access the ERA website to book your place.
